Crews Rescue Employees Trapped On Transmission Tower In Northwest DC (Updated)

UPDATED: The workers were safely removed from the elevator at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rescue operations are in progress in Northwest DC after two employees found themselves in a perilous position hundreds of feet above the ground.

DC Fire and EMS personnel were called shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday to a broadcast tower in the 4000 block of Nebraska Avenue NW, with two employees trapped in an elevator on the side of the structure.

According to NBC Washington, the two employees stuck are at the NBC4/Telemundo 44 station, and work for the company. Both are reportedly safe and not in any danger as the rescue continued on Tuesday afternoon.

It is unclear what caused the pair to get stuck about halfway up the tower.
